Preference Manager

MultiZilla is about giving you the freedom of configuring it the way you want, thus we had to add a large number of new preference panels, but switched to our own Preference Manager with MultiZilla v1.5.0.2, which was completely redesigned for MultiZilla v1.8.3.2c.

Sessions Panel
Introduction
The Sessions preferences (or settings) panel gives you control over...
Save Behavior

Save Tab Sessions on Exit/Window Closure
Don't save sessions
Selecting this option won't save the open windows and tabs as sessions on exit, but you can still save them from the: Tab Context Menu, Tab Manager and Tab Session Manager.
Overwrite matching sessions
Selecting this option will save all open windows and tabs as either new, or overwrite a previously stored matching session. Window matching is based on the order you've opened new window in (FIFO principle).
Add open tabs as (new) session
Selecting this option will save all open windows and tabs into a new session. All other previously saved session data will not be removed or changed.
Ask me what I want to do/open session saver window
Selecting this option will open MultiZilla's Session Saver Confirmation Window which allows you to:
  • Add a new session
  • Replace a previously saved session.
  • Merge with a previously saved session.
  • Skip session saving completely.
  • Cancel the window close request.
Note: More about MultiZilla's session saver confirmation window can be found here.
Don't save session for windows with only one tab
Tick this checkbox when you don't want to save sessions for windows with only one tab in it. Note that empty (about:blank) tabs won't be saved with or without this checkbox ticked.
Session History
Save and Restore Tab History
Tick this checkbox when you want to save the last N items of the browser history (ie the pages visited, as used in the Back/Forward buttons) where N is defined in the: Maximum number of items that should be saved box (the default value is preset to 15, which is also the maximum number of items to be kept).

Restore Tab Sessions On Startup
Don't Restore Sessions
Selecting this option will make SeaMonkey startup without restoring any previously closed tabs and window, but you can still reopen tabs from the Tab Context Menu and complete tab sessions with help of the Tab Session Manager.
Restore First Window Only
Selecting this option will only restore the tabs of the first window on startup (including the window settings, when saved and requested to be restore).
Ask me before opening
Selecting this option will make MultiZilla ask you what you want. You can choose to open the first window only, all tab(s) / window(s) or to not restore any saved tab(s) and window(s).
Open Tab Session Manager
Selecting this option will open the Tab Session Manager at startup, from where you can choose what to do at startup.
Tab Sessions Should Open In
Existing Tabs
Selecting this option will replace all open tabs with the tabs from the tab session to be restored, and thus close the currently open tabs first!
New Tabs
Selecting this option will open new tabs for the tab session to be restored, leaving all other open tabs untouched.
Ask me before opening
Selecting this option will open a confirmation window, asking you what you want. From this dialog window you can choose to open in new or the currently available tabs.
Restore Window Behaviour
Restore Complete Session
Selecting this option will restore the window: width, height, position and whether or not the sidebar was open (and which panel you had opened), the sidebar width and which toolbar(s) were active/visible.
Restore Tab(s) Only
Selecting this option will only restore the tabs, not the window features.
Miscellaneous
Skip confirmation for restoring a 'single window tab session'
If a tab session has tabs from only a single window, if this is checked then if you have selected "ask me before opening" when opening a new tab session you will not be asked.
Close all unrelated tabs
If this is checked then when you open a tab session, all tabs not part of that session will be closed.
Ignore 'Navigator Startup' settings from the Navigator preference panel
Selecting this rather mandetory option will override the home page/group settings at startup, and when new windows are opened. Untick this checkbox when you want to open your home page/group and the restore tabs from tab sessions at the same time (added feature for investigators).
