Quick Preferences Menu

The QuickPrefs menu is our easy access mechanism to some of Mozilla's more oft-used preferences. This exists as a single button on the toolbar of your choice. It can be located on the MultiZilla toolbar, the Personal toolbar or the Navigation toolbar. The following functions are available from this menu.

- Open Preferences Window
- Opens the main Mozilla preferences window, with the MultiZilla pane selected
- Preference Editor
- This allows you to alter any Mozilla preference on a temporary basis without editing prefs.js
or user.js by opening
about:config. - Cookies Settings
- This option allows you to set various options about how to accept cookies.
- Accepts all cookies
- Accept all cookies, no matter where they came from
- Accept cookies (original domain only)
- Only accept cookies from the website that you are on. So if you are on somesite.org and a script tries to set a cookie for nastysite.org, it will be blocked.
- Block all cookies
- Stops any cookies from being set. Note: selecting this may prevent many websites from working properly.
- Block cookies from this site
- Block this website from setting cookies.
- Allow cookies from this site
- Allow (or unblock) cookies from this website.
- Use default cookie permissions
- Allows or blocks cookies based on the permissions set above and does not set a specific permission for this website.
- Manage stored cookies
- This option allows you to view and delete all the cookies stored in your browser
- Manage cookie permissions
- Opens the Permission Manager with the Cookies page selected.
- Image Settings
- This option allows you to set various options about how to accept images
- Accept all images
- Accept all images, no matter where they came from
- Accept images (original domain only)
- Only accept images from the website that you are on. So if you are on somesite.org and the page tries to load an image for nastysite.org, it will be blocked.
- Block all images
- Stops any images from being loaded.
- Block images from this site
- Block this website from loading images.
- Allow images from this site
- Allow (or unblock) images from this website.
- Use default images permissions
- Allows or blocks images based on the permissions set above and does not set a specific permission for this website.
- Manage images permissions
- Opens the Permission Manager with the images page selected.
- Plugin Settings

This option allows you to set various options about how to accept plugins
- Block plugins (use of white list is optional)
- Blocks any plugins from being loaded (although if a site is on your white list, then it will still be loaded).
- Accept plugins (use of black list is optional)
- Allows any plugins to load (although if a site is on your blacklist, then it will not be loaded).
- Accept plugins from the originating site only
- Only plugins from the site that you are on will be loaded. So if you are on somesite.org and the page tries to load a plugin for nastysite.org, it will be blocked.
- Ask for confirmation before accepting plugins
- You will be asked each time that a page tries to load a plugin. You can see the type of plugin that the page is trying to load and the website that it is coming from and given the option to allow or block it.

- Allow (or unblock) plugins from this website.
- Use default plugins permissions
- Allows or blocks plugins based on the permissions set above and does not set a specific permission for this website.

- Popup Settings

This option allows you to set various options about how to accept pop-ups
- Use whitelist (block popups)
- By default popups are blocked, although sites that are on your whitelist will still be allowed to open popups.
- Use blacklist (allow popups)
- By default popups are allowed, although sites that are on your blacklist will not be allowed to open popups.
- Supress popups from this site
- Block this site from loading popups
- Allow popups from this site
- Allow (or unblock) popups from this website.
- Use default popups permissions
- Allows or blocks popups based on the permissions set above and does not set a specific permission for this website.
- Manage popups permissions
- Opens the Permission Manager with the popups page selected.
- Browser Spoofing

This option lets you spoof your UserAgent string to fool a site into thinking
that you are using a different browser (eg IE or NS4.x). See
our documentation for more details on this feature.
- Manage User Agents
- Opens the User Agent Manager to let you add, remove or select a user agent to use.
- Restore original user agent
- If you have changed your user agent, this shortcut allows you to restore it back to the default
- Available User agents
- The rest of the items in this menu show the user agents that are available to be spoofed. Just select one of these items to have your user agent set to that.
- Referrer settings

This option allows you to set various options about how to define referrer settings
(Wikipedia information about HTTP referrers)
- Never send a page referrer
- If this is selected then the referrer is never sent
- Send the page referrer for links only
- The page referrer is sent, but only when you click a link, so it is not sent when images or other media are loaded (this can protect against some web bugs etc)
- Always send the page referrer
- If this is selected then the referrer is always sent
- Referrer Spoofing

These options allows you to change your referrer, for increased privacy. They can be used with
the set of options above.
- Send original referrer
- Send the original referrer back to the web server
- Send URL as referrer
- This lets you send the URL of the page that you are trying to visit as the referrer. This is useful for sites that require a referrer to be set and to be from that website (e.g. to stop you viewing images unless you are on that site to prevent bandwidth usage).
- Send fake referrer
- This sends a fake referrer back to the web server. The URL to be sent back to the server is shown at the bottom of the menu.
- Manage fake referrer
- This lets you change the URL that is sent back to the web server when you are using fake referrers.
- Javascript Settings

You can change the Javascript settings quickly from this menu
- Enable Javascript for websites
- If this is selected then Javascript will be enabled.
- Enable Javascript dump
- This is a debug setting that you should enable if you are experiencing bugs in websites or with MultiZilla as it will enable extra output to be shown on the Error console.
- Show strict Javascript warnings
- By default, Javascript problems which aren't strictly errors are not shown. Developers should enable this to let them ensure that their code is as correct as possible. This should also be enabled if you're debugging MultiZilla.
- Show errors and warnings from chrome
- If this is disabled then only errors and warnings generated by scripts on websites will be shown in the Error Console. Check this if you're debugging MultiZilla or are a developer writing Javascript for SeaMonkey or your own extension.
- Manage Javascript permissions
- Opens the Permission Manager with the Javascript page selected.
- Enable Java
- Use this toggle to enable or disable Java applets
- Web Style Settings

This option lets you control various annoyances, such as whether to enable the
<blink> tag and settings for animations.
- Enable custom fonts
- If this is unselected then webpages will not be able to define their own fonts, and your selections will always be shown.
- Enable custom colors
- TODO: not sure
- Enable blink element
- If this is unselected then the <blink> tag will not make text blink
- Image animation
- These three options let you define how animated images should work. You can set them to never animate at all, to play only once, or to play as many times as the animation specifies (which is often forever).
- Cache Settings

Enable or disable various caches from this menu
- Disable XUL Cache
- If this is selected, then the XUL cache will be disabled and have to be rebuilt each time the browser starts up. This is useful for debugging both MultiZilla and SeaMonkey itself.
- Enable disk cache
- If this is selected then pages and images will be saved in the browser's disk cache to speed up browsing. It is generally recommended to have this selected.
- Enable memory cache
- If this is selected then pages and images will be saved in the browser's memory cache to speed up browsing. It is generally recommended to have this selected.
- Proxy Settings

This option lets you control the use of proxies
for your web browser
- Proxy disabled
- If this is selected then the browser will not use a proxy server and will try to connect directly to the Internet
- Use manual settings
- If you have manually configured a proxy in the SeaMonkey preferences, selecting this will use those settings.
- Automatic configuration
- If you have specified a proxy auto-config file (.pac) in the SeaMonkey preferences, selecting this will use that file
- Enable Prefetch data
- This option toggles whether or not to allow SeaMonkey to pre-fetch and cache certain links (eg images) while the browser is idle in order to speed up some forms of web browsing, but can also be a privacy issue. You can find more information about link prefetching on this Mozilla FAQ.
- Clear Local data

Clear your disk/memory caches and your browsing histories from this menu
- Clear disk cache
- This options clears the browser's disk cache when it is selected.
- Clear memory cache
- This options clears the browser's memory cache when it is selected.
- Clear disk and memory cache
- This options clears both the browser's memory and disk cache simultaneously when it is selected.
- Clear location bar history
- Whenever you type a web address (URL) into the location bar, this is remembered so if you type part of it again, the browser autocompletes this for you. Selecting this option deletes those remembered URLs.
- Clear global history
- Selecting this option deletes all pages in the browser's history
- Clear IDN history
- The International Domain Name history, which is used to store hashes of SSL protected domain names (websites). Selecting this option clears clears that history.
- Clear all cache and history
- Selecting this option is like selecting all of the ones above one after the other
- Clear all cookies
- Selecting this option removes all stored cookies from your browser
- Clear all downloads
- SeaMonkey keeps a record of the files you download in the Download Manager. Selecting this option deletes that record
- Clear all form data
- SeaMonkey can store data that you enter into forms and pre-populate them for you automatically. Selecting this option deletes that data.
- Clear all passwords
- SeaMonkey can store web passwords and pre-populate them for you automatically. Selecting this option deletes that data.
- Clear all locally stored data
- Selecting this is the same as selecting all the other options in this menu at the same time
- Privacy Settings
- Selecting this opens the MultiZilla preference manager with the Privacy tab selected.
- XPInstall Settings

Control the sites that can install browser extensions
- Disable XPInstallation for extensions and themes
- If this is selected then no browser themes or extensions (.xpi files) will be allowed to install themselves.
- Require white list for XPInstallation
- If this is selected then a site will not be allowed to install an xpi file unless it is on a specific whitelist.
- Allow XPInstallation from '<site>'
- If you select this then the current website will be allowed to install xpi files to your browser.
- Block XPInstallation from '<site>'
- If you select this then the current website will not be allowed to install xpi files to your browser.
- Check the 'require white list' preference
- If this is selected, then the current website will only be allowed to install xpi files if it is on your whitelist. You can see what sites are allowed to install on the permission manager.
- Permission manager
- Opens the MultiZilla permission manager.
- Extensions Management

Lets you manage installed extensions
- Deactivate all extensions except MultiZilla
- Disables all installed extensions except MultiZilla. You need to restart the browser for the change to take effect
- Activate all the deactivated extensions
- If you have disabled some extensions for any reason, selecting this option will re-enable all extensions
- List of extensions
- This is a list of all the extsions that you currently have installed. Selecting any one will disable it (if there is a tick next to it) or enable it (if there isn't).
- Permission Manger
- Opens the MultiZilla permission manager.
