The MultiZilla News Feed
This is the MultiZilla news page, which was the very first news feed on
mozdev.org and is the place to keep yourself informed about (upcomming)
releases, nightlies and other important events. We also have a project team blog
where we try to keep you informed about upcomming events and other project related
things we like to talk about. You can subscribe to the project team blog by clicking

About Automatic Feed Discovery:
- “Automatic Feed Discovery, or AFD, was introduced in MultiZilla version 1.8. This feature
enables this
button on the Status Bar when it discovers one or more feeds on the website. Web sites can enable
this functionality by adding one or more link elements to the website, with a link to each of
the associated feed(s). You can read more about MultiZilla's Feed Viewer, Feed Reader and how to
setup such links for your own web site on our
Web Feed Info Page.”
Note
This page is generated from our valid
newsfeed (news.php) and all dates on this page are currently in
UTC/GMT format, but we hope to change this in the near future (the dates should be displayed in your
local time format).
Michael: MultiZilla v1.8.3.4e has been re-released in order to fix the update notifier. I have personally checked all download mirrors and the file is there, so please download/install it from our installation page.
I was too busy (working on the next major update) so I didn't check the file myself, which I should have done, and that's when things went down hill last time. I'm sorry to have caused this inconvenience for you, and again this update only fixes the update notifier, which you can download as a separate file from this location (for the people who know what to do with it) otherwise just re-install your current MultiZilla copy and everything is sorted again.
Michael: I am working on an emergency update for MultiZilla because John (our project assistant) replaced one of the files in the XPI with a test version for a next update, but I'm not even sure if we want to use it or not so...
Anyway, John fixed a file corruption error introduced with the recent download mirror problems and thought to be smart by using the new file instead. Not realizing what the consequences might be, and now we know (sorry John) that it sucks.
For now: Switch off the update notifier and wait for the next update to fix this nasty problem!
Michael: MultiZilla v1.8.3.4e has been released today.
You can install or download this release from the installation page. MultiZilla installations with automatic update enabled will notify you when this release can be installed from one of the download mirrors.
Bug fixes for this update include:
- Can't subscribe to feeds from "The Register" bug 18134
- Clicking Feed Viewer button on re-opened tab lists multiple views bug 18110
- Automatic feed refresh not working after opening new windows bug 18094
- Automatic Update Notifier freezes browser at startup
New bugs, or regressions should be reported to our Bugzilla or join us in our newsgroup.
John: There appears to be some sort of mirror problem, making it impossible for you to install the latest security update, so we have taken the unusual step to add the XPI to the following bug report where you can download it!
Note: This update also contains the fix for bug 18110.
John: MultiZilla v1.8.3.4c has been released. Please make sure you have the automatic update check enabled, and to check back for additional updates later this week!
You can install or download this release from the installation page (Please note that some download mirrors might need a little more time to sync with the main download server). MultiZilla installations with automatic update enabled will notify you when this release can be installed from one of the download mirrors.
Bug fixes for this update include:
- This is a security sensitive update - along with a first set of changes for the Feed Reader/Feeds Preference Panel (which we are still working on).
New bugs, or regressions should be reported to our Bugzilla or join us in our newsgroup.
John: We have a new MultiZilla nightly available for download right now.
Bug fix for this update include:
- MultiZilla 1.8.3.3w - Autoscroll is not working bug 18062
New bugs, or regressions should be reported to our Bugzilla or join us in our newsgroup.
Note: The automatic update notifier will inform you if and when you should update your copy of MultiZilla because we already patched the latest release!
Michael: We're not going to add a real roadmap or planning, but what I can do is add a list with bugs that we like to see fixed for the next release:
- MultiZilla 1.8.3.3w - Autoscroll is not working bug 18062
- Tab Manager keeps crashing Macs bug 17589
- MultiZilla can't be fully localized bug 17441
- Content blocker settings are forgotten if user switches between content types on settings dialog bug 17421
- Some keyboard shortcuts no longer work bug 17167
I also plan to replace our current Permission Manager with a new one, which should become a single window manager like the others. Something similar to the new Preference Manager, with new panel selectors at the top, and the new panelbar. This in combination with some Feed Reader bugs will probably all I can do within the four weeks we have.
Hopefully people are willing to jump in again because that I tell you is a key factor for me. Yeah, getting attention and recognition from you, the people using MultiZilla (instead of working quietly in my bedroom, looking up against this blue wall behind my desk/computer instead of watching a movie with friends on a Saterday evening/night) is rewarding. Yep, I'm such a sucker for attention (I guess I just feel lonely).
